There are many directions to go in pondering a topic as broad as "digitization". At the moment, I am specifically focused on the questions raised by Prof. Eric Tsui of the Hong Kong Poly Technical University in preparation for a Skype interview coming up soon.
When asked to develop a graduate level course for students of the School of Archives, Libraries and Information Studies at the University of British Columbia, I framed the work as an exercise in inquiry rather than providing technical solutions. Offered as a remote, distance education opportunity, savvy student took to heart my caveat that distance curses are more, not less, work for both the student and the instructor.
I am considering moving my former blog, long dormant, into this space. There are advantages, of course, to sticking with Blogger--far more potential for discovery. but, I wonder how much I want to be discovered? I'm past the stage where that really matters, and philosophically opposed to notoriety as a way of gaining clicks for real or perceived revenue generation. So, perhaps this space will do.
Must give more thought. What's your view?
